While working at Very Local, Hearst's streaming network, I created the 60-second and 30-second promos for the show My Perfect Day. The show went on to win a Regional Emmy Award. Seeing that happen was a genuinely great moment.
The Show and the Work
My Perfect Day is a lifestyle show produced by Hearst Television. My role was editing the promotional content: the 60-second broadcast promo, the 30-second cut, and supporting social formats. The goal was to capture the warmth and energy of the show in a short window and make viewers want to tune in.
It's a challenging format. You have to tell a story fast, match the tone of the original content, and hook someone who knows nothing about the show. Getting that right across multiple lengths while staying on-brand is a skill that takes reps to develop.
The Emmy
When I found out My Perfect Day had won a Regional Emmy, it was one of those moments where the work you put in a while ago comes back around in an unexpected way. The show earned it on its own merit, but being part of the production team that promoted it feels meaningful.
What It Means
Awards validate the work, but they also remind you that the details matter. The promo edit I was asked to do was a small part of a much bigger production. The fact that the show resonated enough to earn recognition is a credit to the entire team at Hearst. I'm proud to have had a role in telling that story.
