While working at Very Local, Hearst's streaming network, I created the 60-second and 30-second promos for the show My Perfect Day. The show went on to win a Regional Emmy Award. Seeing that happen was a genuinely great moment.
The Show and the Work
My Perfect Day is a lifestyle show produced by Hearst Television. My role was editing the promotional content: the 60-second broadcast promo, the 30-second cut, and supporting social formats. The goal was to capture the warmth and energy of the show in a short window and make viewers want to tune in.
It's a challenging format. You have to tell a story fast, match the tone of the original content, and hook someone who knows nothing about the show. Getting that right across multiple lengths while staying on-brand is a skill that takes reps to develop.
The Emmy
When I found out My Perfect Day had won a Regional Emmy, it was one of those moments where the work you put in a while ago comes back around in an unexpected way. The show earned it on its own merit, but being part of the production team that promoted it feels meaningful.
## What It MeansAwards validate the work, but they also remind you that the details matter. The promo edit I was asked to do was a small part of a much bigger production. The fact that the show resonated enough to earn recognition is a credit to the entire team at Hearst. I'm proud to have had a role in telling that story.
